Meditation For Beginners – 5 Easy Tips To Get Started
The human mind loves routine, predictablity and safety. But even in the best of times, life isn’t predictable or easy. Now more than ever people are left with no other choice but to stay at home and simply be. They are left with themselves, their problems, their worries, and their stress.
Instead of doing what you’ve always done when you are stressed out: eat, yell, get angry, frustrated, drink, etc. why not try something different?
Why not try meditation?
Meditation has always been linked to the ‘spiritual’ path and is widely known as the preeminant pastime of Tibetan monks, Indian yogis and the Western transcedental mind. But, in reality meditation is nothing more than stilling the mind. It is hardly anything religious or woo-woo. It is very natural.
Dopamine, Seratonine and DMT – No Drugs Required
Meditation has numerious benefits not least of which is greater clarity, emotional balance, higher awareness, and stress reduction.
Did you know that for each emotional state you put yourself through, there is a corresponding chemical output that your body creates? That is right. You create dopamine, seratonine, and even DMT! No drugs required!!!
That means that everytime you feel anger, frustration, worry, or anxiety your body creates chemicals to match this and you immediately experience it. Instead of living by default with your mind running the show, you can take control of your mind and choose what you want to think, feel and experience.
If the human body can create it’s own cortisol (stress hormone), it can just as easily create higher states of experience simply through proper instruction.
Not many people are aware of this. The mind is the control unit of your human experience. What instructions and input are you giving your mind?
Tibetan lamas can create body heat to the point of sweating profusely in sub-zero temperatures and Indian yogis can experience transcendental states of consciousness simply through concentrating the mind to higher and higher states of consciousness.
The only way to do this is through consistent and systematic stilling of the mind as a regular practice. This practice of withdrawing from the five senses, concentration, and absorption are otherwise known as pratyahara, dharana and dhyana.
It is totally possible to choose a peaceful, calm, or blissed out state of consciousness despite the chaos swirliing around you. This is every human being’s birthright.
This is what it means to be human; to consciously choose our experiences and not be at the mercy of outside influences to control our state of being.
